Champions, Qualified for Asia, and Relegated

BRI League 1 2021/22 is over, by presenting Bali United as champion. The following is the final standings, complete with who was relegated and who represented Indonesia in the Asian arena.

Bali United celebrated the title with a 3-1 victory over Persik Kediri in the last week on Thursday (31/3/2022). The result made Serdadu Tridatu close the season with 75 points from 34 matches.

Bali United has the right to appear in the qualifying round of the Asian Champions League next year. If they fail to penetrate the group stage, then they will definitely get a slot in the AFC Cup.

Persib Bandung is in the runner-up position with 69 points. They were held to a 1-1 draw with Barito Putera in the last match, keeping the team from Kalimantan safe from relegation. Marc Klok et al are also entitled to appear in the AFC Cup next year.

Bhayangkara FC finished in third place with 66 points. They are on the waiting list for next year’s AFC Cup. The Guardian can only appear if Bali United manages to penetrate the group phase of the Asian Champions League.

Meanwhile, Persipura Jayapura, Persela Lamongan, and Persiraja Banda Aceh must be relegated to League 2. Thus, there will be no teams from Sumatra or Papua next season.

They will be replaced by three promoted teams from Liga 2, namely Persis Solo, RANS Cilegon, and Martapura Dewa United.
