Still on the roof of Europe. Still with volleyball. The Italian volleyball team defeated Slovenia in the final of the European Championships. The score was 3-2, with a recovery of the Azzurri in the last two sets, given that Slovenia had reached a score 2-1. In the semifinals the team led by coach Ferdinando De Giorgi had managed to beat Serbia, the favorite team of the tournament. The last time Italy had reached the final was in 2013, when he had lost to Russia. To regain a victory instead you have to go back to 2005. For the Azzurri it is the seventh European title. What never happened, however, is that in the same edition of the European Championships the Azzurri won both the women’s and men’s championships. The September 4th also the Azzurre pulled by Paola Egonu they had managed to win the female Europeans. A victory that in the environment is read as a ransom afterwards the defeats from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Coach De Giorgi commented: «It is an immense joy, a sought after and desired victory. Tonight they proved to be a real group, united who knew how to share and come together when it seemed the most difficult moment ».
