Bayern Munich kicked out of Champions League after being removed Villarreal in the quarter-finals at the Allianz Stadium, Wednesday (13/4) early morning WIB.
Bayern failed to qualify for the semifinals because they were only able to draw 1-1 in the second leg of the quarter-finals. This result is not enough because Die Roten lost 0-1 while playing at Villarreal headquarters.
The draw made Bayern eliminated by 1-2 aggregate. As for Villarreal this result continues their surprise in the Champions League this season.
Bayern, who needed a win to qualify, struggled to cope with the insistent game shown by Villarreal. As a result, Robert Lewandowski and his friends struggled to create chances and the score remained 0-0 until the first half was over.
In the second half, Bayern managed to open the scoring. The pass from Thomas Muller was not wasted by Robert Lewandowski to make it 1-0 in the 52nd minute.
The goal scored by Lewandowski ignited the spirit of the host to continue to press Villarreal. Bayern got several opportunities through Lucas Hernandez and Thomas Muller but have not been able to increase their advantage.
Bayern efforts to create additional goals never created near the end of the second half. In the end it was Villarreal who unexpectedly could equalize to 1-1.
Villarreal scored with Samuel Chukwueze’s left footed shot inside the penalty box. The goal made the score even and lasted until the second half was over.
Score 1-1 draw is not enough for Bayern. Villarreal also escaped with a 2-1 aggregate after winning 1-0 in the first leg at home.
