Bayern Munich footballers will meet with Paris as the defenders of the trophy in the quarterfinals of the 2020/2021 Champions League. Germain. The decision was made on Friday by a draw at the headquarters of the European Football Union (UEFA) in Nyon, Switzerland. The other pairs formed Manchester City – Borussia Dortmund, FC Porto – Chelsea London and Real Madrid – FC Liverpool.

Three representatives of the English Premier League – Manchester City, FC Liverpool and Chelsea London – qualified for the elite eight from the eight finals. At this stage, the German Bundesliga – the defender of Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, has two representatives, one of the most elite European competitions – La Liga was represented by a record 13-time winner of the Real Madrid competition, resp. Ligue 1 French champion Paris Germain.
The octet was completed by the former two-time European champion FC Porto from Portugal. Giants such as FC Barcelona with Lionel Messi and Juventus Turin with Cristiano Ronald remained in front of the quarterfinals.
The duel between the sixteen-time European champion Bayern and PSG will be a repeat of last season’s final, in which the Bavarians succeeded 1: 0. The double match of “white ballet” with “The Reds” will be a confrontation of the record winner with a 6-time European champion. In the final in 2018, Real LFC defeated 3: 1 and won the last title in the competition. Manchester City has never won a prestigious competition, it was in the semifinals in 2016, the BVB trophy was won in 1997. The champion from 1987 and 2004 Porto, which eliminated Juventus in the eight-finals, will face the winner of LM from 2012.

The semifinals were also drawn and, for administrative reasons, the home team for the finals. It may happen that German and English clubs fight for the finals in mutual duels.
The first matches of the quarterfinals are scheduled for April 6 and 7, then revenge on April 13 and 14. There were no restrictions on the draw, no one was deployed and clubs from the same country could meet. The first draw will start in the first match at home. The final is scheduled for Saturday, May 29 in Istanbul.
