The draw for the group stage of the Champions League takes place this Thursday, at 5 pm, in Istanbul, Turkey, and the pots were defined tonight with the completion of the remaining games of the play-off second leg.
The remaining vacancies were filled by Shakhtar Donetsk’s Ukrainians, Salzburg’s Austrians and Sheriff’s Moldovans.
In Zagreb, Sheriff made history by becoming the first Moldovan team to reach the Champions League group stage after drawing a goalless draw with Dynamo, benefiting from a 3-0 home victory. Moldovans are part of Pot 4.
In Ukraine, the locals drew 2-2 in extra time after Monaco equalized the tie, closing the play-off with a 3-2 aggregate, and closing pot 3.
In Denmark, Salzburg replicated the first-leg result and overcame Brondy 2-1 and was included in Pot 4 of the draw.
As for the Portuguese teams, Sporting is part of Pot 1, of the national champions and winners of the Champions and Europa League last season, while FC Porto and Benfica were integrated in Pot 3.
