Always away from the Messi-Ronaldo duo, Robert Lewandowski wrote a page of C1 history this week. We review the top 10 best scorers in the Champions League (since the reform, since the start of the 1992-1993 season).
Ronaldo-Messi, far ahead of the pack
They have been writing the history of the Champions League for almost 15 years now. And, in this little game, Cristiano Ronaldo made the break in front of his illustrious rival. Silent in his round of 16 first leg in Porto, the Portuguese (134 goals in C1) keeps a huge margin over the Argentinian, who scored the 119th goal of his career in C1 against PSG.

Unstoppable in the Bundesliga, where, with 26 goals scored, he has a margin of eight goals over his first pursuer in the scoring standings, Robert Lewandowski has been more discreet in the Champions League this season. Tuesday’s goal in Rome was only the Pole’s fourth on the European stage this season. But the 72nd in total, in C1: he is now ahead of Raul (71) in the historical ranking of scorers.

Karim Benzema in ambush
The Bayern striker will have to keep scoring, however, if he wants to stay on the podium. Because Karim Benzema is not far behind. Deprived of the round of 16 first leg, the Frenchman has certainly not said his last word: guide Real in the group stage (4 goals), he is only two lengths behind Raul and therefore has only three goals behind Robert Lewandowski. If Real goes far in C1 this season, Karim Benzema can hope to come and titillate Robert Lewandowski and approach the top 3.

The Ruud van Nistelrooy à Thomas Müller
Far behind this royal quintet are other players who have marked the history of the Champions League over the past three decades. Ruud van Nistelrooy is in sixth place: from the top of his 56 goals, he is ahead of another retiree, Thierry Henry (50). Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who can still hope to fuel his counter if he extends his lease in Milan at the end of the season, shares eighth place with Andrei Shevchenko (48). And it is Thomas Müller (47) who completes the top 10 for the moment, just ahead of Filippo Inzaghi (46).
