In the first leg, Leipzig believed they were on the right track after five minutes when the formally strong Christopher Nkunku took the lead early in the game. But before the break, Jesse Marsch’s team let the Belgians buy it off and were suddenly behind with two goals against (22nd and 41st minutes). The revenge for the first leg would taste all the sweeter if Leipzig could get back into the game for the Europa League with a win in Bruges. Today’s opponent of the Red Bulls, on the other hand, has another plan.

And that includes a win against RB. If this plan works and City and PSG steal the points in the parallel game, then all of a sudden the round of 16 would be possible again. Bruges currently ranks third with four points. So today’s game is a real all-or-nothing game for both teams. Should Bruges actually fight for second place against PSG on the last match day and possibly even knock the big favorite out of the competition, then that would of course be a big sensation.
But this scenario is not entirely absurd, because the Belgians surprised their neighbors from the French capital with a surprising 1-1 draw on the first day of the match. In the past two games, however, Bruges have been sent to the boards twice by City (1: 5 and 1: 4).
The balance of both teams: So far, both teams have only met once in the first leg and that ended, as is well known, with the 1: 2 bankruptcy for Leipzig. The kick-off is on Wednesday evening, November 24, 2021, at 9 p.m. in the Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges.
