(CNN Spanish) – The Champions League is preparing for the knockout phase and this Tuesday the last matches of groups A, B, C and D were played.
Except for the elimination of Manchester United and the classification of FC Copenhagen in Group A, there were no surprises in this first round.
Bayern Munich visited Manchester United at Old Trafford and after their 0-1 victory they forcefully demonstrated why they were the favorites to win the group. The other side of the coin, the team led by Erik ten Hag, had a poor campaign and with 4 points was last in the group. FC Copenhagen defeated Galatasaray 1-0 at home and did their homework against a direct rival to advance to the round of 16.

In Group B Arsenal drew 1-1 on their visit to PSV, and both qualified in first and second place. Lens from France was left out, while Sevilla arrived at this last date without any chance of qualifying.
On the other hand, in Group C, there is an unbeatable Real Madrid. He made 18 points out of 18 possible in this first round, with 16 goals scored. This Tuesday they suffered to beat Unión Berlin 2-3 as a visitor, who would have gotten a symbolic draw had it not been for Dani Ceballos’ goal in the 89th minute. Napoli, for its part, was second in the group with 10 points.

In Group D, Inter Milan lost the opportunity to be the leader of the group and drew 0-0 at home against Real Sociedad. Both were left with 12 points, but the Spanish team was in first place for having a better goal difference. Benfica from Portugal beat Salzburg from Austria 1-3 as a visitor, but both teams were eliminated.
What’s coming on Wednesday
Atlético de Madrid is playing for first place in group E against Lazio. While Feyenoord and Celtic play by protocol: the Scots are already eliminated.
Borussia Dortmund wants to ratify its lead in group F against PSG, which is second, and Newcastle and Milan are aiming for their last resort to qualify: whoever wins (with the condition that PSG loses) would be in the round of 16.

Manchester City, already qualified, faces eliminated Red Star Belgrade. RB Leipzig, second in the table and also classified, plays against Young Boys Bern, who would go to the Europa League knockout stage if they maintain third place.
FC Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk (both with 9 points) are playing the classification seeking to add three points and take first place from Barcelona, which in turn plays the procedure with Royal Antwerp, eliminated with 0 points.
The draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League will be next Monday, December 18.
