The French international was the absolute constant in midfield of the Blues. Against City he recorded a lot of ball wins. He was named game of the game in Chelsea’s two semi-finals against Real Madrid. In Porto, Kanté also drew attention to himself at the beginning of the second half with a strong tackle against Kevin De Bruyne.
UEFA Technical Observers John Peacock and Patrick Vieira: “He had a major influence on the game at headquarters with and without the ball. Together with Jorginho, he formed an excellent duo.”
