The draw for the regular season of this year’s Champions League took place in Tampere – during a day off from the World Cup. Who will the three Czech representatives encounter: Třinec, Vítkovice and Pardubice?
First of all, let’s remind that the Champions Hockey League is played with a significantly changed system from the coming year. The number of participants will drop from 32 to 24, at the same time the traditional format of basic groups has been cancelled.
Instead of the clubs in the group playing three opponents after two games, as was the case until now, they will face six different opponents in the opening phase of the CHL. At the end of this phase, a ranking from 1st to 24th is made according to the points earned (or score), with the top sixteen teams advancing to the playoffs.

Wednesday’s draw was particularly favorable to Roman Červenka. The captain of the national team will return to his homeland twice during the summer: the Swiss Rapperswil will have away matches against Třinec and Vítkovice.
