Roma – With their fifth success in a row in the competition, Barcelona moves themselves into second place (15 points) in the Champions League standings. They won the direct clash with Borussia (12) in Dortmund in spectacular fashion (2-3) and in one fell swoop overtook the 6 teams (including Inter) on 13. It all happened in the second half at the Westfalenstadion. Raphinha broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a nice diagonal left-footed shot at the end of a perfect counterattack triggered by Dani Olmo. The Germans equalized in the 60th minute with Guirassy who won (a push from Cubarsi) and converted a penalty but the Catalans, thanks to the substitutions, went back ahead (75′) with Ferran Torres, quick to recover a short clearance by Kobel on a right-footed volley by Fermin Lopez. The yellow and blacks put things back on track after just 3′ of throw-in with Guirassy, served into an empty net by Gross, but in the 85th minute they finally had to bow again to Ferran Torres who headed into the corner with a nice diagonal right-footed shot turning on a through ball from Lamine Yamal.
Arsenal and Lille move up to third place
Arsenal are in third place on 13, having overwhelmed Monaco (3-0) in the direct clash thanks to a brace (34′ and 78′) from Saka and a goal (88′) from Havertz, and Lille who won in a more difficult and daring way than expected (3-2) against Sturm Graz (3 points). Ahead 2-0 thanks to goals from Sahraoui (37′) and Bakker (45′) they were surprisingly caught up by the Austrians, scoring with Kiteishvili in the 5th minute of added time in the first half and with Biereth in the 47th minute. Lille did not fall apart and put things right at the end (81′) with Haraldsson.
Atletico smiles, Feyenoord qualified
Atletico Madrid (12 points) made the best use of their home match (3-1) against Slovan Bratislava (0 points, eliminated). The Colchoneros broke the deadlock with Alvarez (16′) and then completed the job with a brace from Griezmann (42′ and 57′), interspersed with a penalty from Strelec (51′). Feyenoord (10 points) qualifies for the next round thanks to a 4-2 win at the expense of Sparta Prague (4 points). Dutch ahead 3-0 already on the half hour mark with goals from Trauner (8′), Paixao (10′) and Hadj Moussa (30′). then Gimenez thought of closing the score in the 63rd minute. Rahhmani’s seals (43′) and Beelen’s own goal (80′) were useless for the guests.
Stuttgart overwhelms Young Boys and hopes
Finally, Tiene’s hopes of overcoming Stuttgart (7 points) are alive after the clear 5-1 against Young Boys (0 points and eliminated), deluded by the seal, after just 6′ by Lakomy. The Germans rolled up their sleeves and overwhelmed the Swiss with Stiller (25′), Millot (53′), Fuhrich (61′), Vgnoman (66′) and Keitel (76′).
