Champions League: all you need to know about Final 8 and the draw, scheduled for this Friday at 12 noon

This Friday, the Final 8 table, an unpublished final bouquet of the 2019-2020 Champions League due to the coronavirus, will be unveiled at 12 noon in Nyon.

If we do not yet know the names of the 8 teams that will contest this end of the tournament, scheduled from August 12 to 23, we already know that PSG, Leipzig, Atalanta Bergamo and Atlético Madrid have qualified.

Fourteen round of 16 return finals have yet to be played. Among them, Juventus-Lyon (Lyon’s 1-0 first leg win), Manchester City-Real Madrid (City’s 1-2 first leg win) which will take place on August 7 and Barcelona-Naples (1-1 first leg) as well as Bayern Munich-Chelsea (Bayern 0-3 first leg victory) which will take place the next day.

For this end of competition, finish the round-trip matches in the stadium of each team with the away goals which give an advantage and place to a single meeting on neutral ground. Posters will take place in Lisbon, either in the Alvalade stadium (Sporting) or in the Luz stadium (in Benfica). It is in this last enclosure that the grand final will be disputed.

This Friday, the draw will designate the complete route to Final 8. We will therefore know the table of quarter and semi-finals. It should also be noted that a team can face a formation coming from the same country.

Among the Belgians still in contention, we find Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard who will face Kevin De Bruyne for a place in the quarterfinals, Jason Denayer and Lyon will travel to Juve for the eighth final second leg to defend their advantage of the first leg. Dries Mertens’ Napoli will have to go and make a result at Barça’s Camp Nou to hope to qualify (1-1 one way). Yannick Carrasco (Atletico Madrid) and Timothy Castagne (Atalanta Bergamo) have already qualified for the quarters. Finally, Thomas Meunier, transferred to Dortmund, could have played the end of the season with PSG. the Belgian did not extend his contract to compete in the Final 8 with the Parisians.
