Champions League – 8th: the notes of the Mastiffs after Chelsea FC – LOSC

Despite a match applied collectively, Lille leaves London with two goals to catch up for the return match. Here are the notes of the Mastiffs at the end of this meeting.

Leo Jardim (5) : He pulls out a shot from Havertz with a nice headline but unfortunately can’t do anything about the two English goals. Applied the rest of the time.

Clever Steel (4) : After a difficult start to the match against Marcos Alonso in particular, the Turk reacted well afterwards. But he is behind Chelsea’s second goal on a loss of ball in the opposing camp.

José Fonte (4) : Faced with opposing players in perpetual motion, the Lille captain struggled to follow. And if he is not directly involved in Pulisic’s goal, he opens the passing line too much towards the latter by getting too close to Botman.

Sven Botman (5) : Unlike Fonte, the Dutchman managed to read the moves of the Chelsea forwards, although he was too easily fooled by Havertz early in the game.

Tiago Djalo (5): Back in this left-back position, he lived thirty minutes in two against one, the fault of a real defensive withdrawal from his winger. But he contained Ziyech and Azpilicueta well, opening up very few options for them as the game went on.

Renato Sanches (6) : The only light in an overly academic Lille game. His first half was almost a recital with very few lost balls, fair play and differences made. It was harder in the second half but it was his first start in a month.

Benjamin Andre (4): A lot of desire and intensity but he lacked accuracy and above all lucidity at times, several times opening up easy recovery for opposing defenders. A more timid second period.

Xeka (3.5): Like André, the Portuguese was the symbol of a Lille environment overwhelmed by the individualities of the Blues. On the second goal, he runs behind Kanté and never manages to catch up or stop the action with a foul.

Jonathan Bamba (4): Like his teammates, he managed to make a difference by running, then when it came time to do the right thing, he made a mistake. Also note an almost non-existent defensive performance which led to numerical inferiorities to manage for Djalo.

Amadou Onana (3): In a totally new position for him in support of David, the number 24 has never managed to get into his match, place himself in the right areas and be in the tempo of the meeting.

Jonathan David (3,5) : The Canadian was completely beaten by Thiago Silva in the duels, in the anticipation and in the reading of the game. Always with a delay, he mainly existed through these stalls to guide the game and provide a solution to his circles.
