Sporting failed to reach Benfica and FC Porto this Tuesday in the qualifying group for the round of 16 of the Champions League, “falling” in the Europa League.
With only two vacancies to be defined this Wednesday, the Portuguese teams are already starting to understand the scenario they will face in the next phase.
Ranked first in group B, the FC Porto can face Inter, Liverpool. Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt. It therefore remains to be decided whether Milan or Salzburg are on the dragons’ road; Shakhtar Donetsk or Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain, if Benfica win the group.
Benfica still have two possible scenarios.
If they manage to take first place in the group, they could face the same opponents as FC Porto, to which must be added Club Brugge, second in the Dragons group, and of course Paris Saint-Germain.
If they remain second, the scenario for the Eagles will be more complicated as the opponents include (for now) Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Naples and Tottenham.
It should be noted that PSG and Real Madrid are also qualified, it remains to be seen in which position they will end up.
