Champion Štybar took fifth place this time in Harelbeke

Czech cyclist Zdeněk Štybar took fifth place in the E3 Saxo Bank Classic of the WorldTour series. The winner of the last year from 2019 finished in a group of stars fighting for the title, from which Stybar’s colleague from the Deceuninck-QuickStep team Kasper Asgreen eventually jumped. The Danish rider won by 32 seconds.

Another Styrian teammate, Florian Sénéchal from France, won the battle for more places on the podium in a six-member group in front of the Dutch classicist Mathieu van der Poel. Belgian Oliver Naesen finished ahead of Štybar, but the Czech cyclist won the scalp of the Olympic winner from Rio Greg van Avermeat.

Asgreen fought in the race for a long time in a separate escape, before being overtaken by a group of pursuers. After repeated unsuccessful starts, Asgreen managed another escape again, winning the sixth title in his career.
