Champion in Valencia, then crushed and museum

Jakarta

The Suzuki GSX-RR performed extraordinarily by winning the final series of the 2022 MotoGP in Valencia, Spain. But behind the excitement there was sad news, because it was Suzuki’s last race on the MotoGP stage. It’s even sadder because the GSX-RR prototype will be scrapped and put in a museum.

Suzuki ended its history in MotoGP with a monumental victory. Alex Rins successfully won the 2022 Valencia MotoGP as well as giving a message that the Suzuki GSX-RR is still very competitive in competition in higher caste motorcycle racing.

Of course, motorsport lovers will greatly miss the Suzuki GSX-RR on the MotoGP track. Because the GSX-RR is the only MotoGP bike with an in-line engine that can discount the superiority of Ducati and Honda with an engine in V4 configuration.

The Suzuki GSX-RR won the MotoGP world title in 2020 thanks to Joan Mir. Even though in the next two seasons the appearance of the Suzuki Ecstar team riders tended to go up and down, the GSX-RR was still a wild bike that had balance in many ways.

This bike has also managed to win two series of the last three MotoGP 2022 series. Alex Rins won the Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island, he also became a champion at the MotoGP of Valencia, Spain.

After finishing his participation in MotoGP, Suzuki Ecstar Team Manager Livio Suppo said, several prototypes of the Suzuki GSX-RR would be destroyed, or put in a museum.

“Some of these bikes will end up in museums. Some will be destroyed along with other parts and components”, explained Suppo in an interview with GPone.

According to Suppo, Suzuki has no choice but to turn the GSX-RR into small pieces. Because if the GSX-RR is still a complete motorcycle, Suzuki will be subject to very high taxes from the Japanese government.

“All Japanese manufacturers do this for tax reasons, because if (the bike) is not (destroyed), there will be goods that will have to pay taxes. Since (the bike) is no longer in use, they have made this choice to reduce spending, “Suppo said.
