Mexico City- The musical guitarist Chamín Correa died at 88 years of age.
The singer Carlos Cuevas revealed through his Twitter account the death of the famous.
“With deep sadness I inform that my great teacher and friend has just passed away from the requinto de México @ChaminCorrea, creator of great musical arrangements and great artists. QEPD,” Cuevas wrote.
At the moment the details about the death of the guitarist are unknown.
Cuevas said in an interview that Correa had suffered from pulmonary emphysema for several years, but ignores if his death was due to this disease.
Fernando Correa, nephew of whom in 2010 received the Medal of Musical Merit awarded by the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, was the one who gave him the news and is waiting to know the site where his remains will be veiled.
“Chamín and I won the OTI Festival in Las Vegas. He was my teacher in the bolero, I recorded four albums with him and how I will not be sad, it is a great loss for music in Mexico,” said Cuevas.
He recalled that for five years he began to see the musician with an oxygen tank, but he stayed well, despite everything and had many plans to continue working.
“The greatest legacy he leaves us is the gold requinto he had. He was the creator of great musical arrangements within the bolero, almost all of Roberto Cantoral’s teacher, such as ‘La Barca’ and ‘El Reloj’.
“He also accompanied many artists, including Luis Miguel, Rocío Dúrcal, Juan Gabriel and Gloria Estefan,” he said.
