Chamber wants clarification about ‘extra plus’ nature areas

The House of Representatives wants clarification about the ‘addition’ of nitrogen-sensitive nature in the vicinity of Natura 2000 areas. VVD, PVV and SGP have, independently of each other, posed written questions in parliament to Minister Carola Schouten of LNV.

The Agrifacts Foundation (Staff) states that over the past five years too much nitrogen-sensitive nature has been added to the nature map in Aerius’s calculation model. This would involve a total of 80,000 hectares with nitrogen-sensitive nature in the Natura 2000 areas. According to Staf, this happened out of the sight of interested parties.

The MPs want to know, among other things, whether 80,000 hectares more nitrogen-sensitive nature has been added to the Aerius habitat map, as Staf claims. If so, they want to know how. They also ask who has the authority to add nitrogen-sensitive nature to the map and who supervises it.
