Chamber: support fixed costs for entrepreneur to 100 percent | Inland

Led by CU leader Segers, the coalition (VVD, CDA, D66, CU) is asking for the support packages for entrepreneurs to be upgraded again. It concerns the TVL scheme, in which companies receive compensation for their fixed costs. Now they still get 85 percent if they have more than 30 percent loss of turnover. This has to be increased to 100 percent in the second quarter of the year (April, May and June), the coalition asks. The proposal is supported by the entire House of Representatives.

Outgoing Prime Minister Rutte had already hinted at an increase in aid packages in Monday’s corona press conference, the last one before next week’s elections. He says in the corona debate on Wednesday that he has’ technical comments’ on Segers’ request.

In implementation, the payment of the aid is not always going well, after the cabinet has already expanded the aid packages a few times in a short period of time. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency, which pays out the TVL, runs into problems if the level of support changes during the payment. That is why the coalition has opted to increase support from April onwards, so that the systems can be adjusted accordingly.

“But I understand the consideration,” says Rutte about the coalition’s wish. According to him, the cabinet will ‘get back to it soon’.

The coalition parties are also asking for the so-called TONK scheme to be expanded. Self-employed persons who have encountered serious problems due to the corona crisis can claim this. For example to pay the rent or mortgage. Also setting up the TONK is still going in fits and starts, there are complaints that municipalities are allocating too little money for it. The House is now asking for the budget to be expanded ‘so that municipalities can get started with allocating this form of support’.
