On average, there are only around 80 applicants for every 100 vacant apprenticeships. In the Dortmund Chamber district, more than 900 apprenticeships were still unfilled on August 1 this year. The funding program “Perfectly Matched Staffing and Welcome Guides” from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection is intended to close this gap. The aim of the program is to fill vacant apprenticeships with qualified applicants and at the same time to integrate people with a migration background, refugees and international skilled workers into the German labor market.
Perfect fit for companies and those interested in training
The “Perfectly Matched Positions” program is aimed at small and medium-sized companies as well as skilled workers and those interested in training. Qualified consultants help to find the perfect candidates for open training positions and suitable companies for those interested. This is done through individual advice, the placement of applicants and support in the recruitment process. Close cooperation with the companies and applicant groups ensures that the proposed candidates meet the requirements of the respective positions as best as possible.
Welcome guides for refugees and people with a migration background
A central component of the program are the so-called welcome pilots. They accompany companies that want to employ refugees and people with a migration background as well as the applicant groups themselves. The welcome pilots support both the recognition of foreign qualifications and the placement of internships, training or jobs. They act as an interface between the companies, the potential skilled workers and the relevant authorities.
With this project, the Dortmund Chamber of Crafts supports craft businesses and those interested in training free of charge. There are currently three consultants working on the “Perfectly Matched Staffing and Welcome Guides” project at the HWK. Interested parties can contact the chamber by phone or email.
