The agricultural helpline receives a Christmas donation from the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture. According to a spokesman, the 25 volunteer telephone chaplains will receive a total of 3,500 euros. The voluntary helpers listen and offer consolation and advice when there is helplessness and despair on the farms. Agriculture is currently characterized by drastic changes in crop production and animal husbandry, with fluctuating market prices and contact restrictions caused by the corona pandemic, said Chamber Director Hans-Joachim Harms. The farmers therefore needed a contact point in order to be able to get advice. The helpline is located at three educational institutions in Rastede (district of Ammerland), Oesede (district of Osnabrück) and Barendorf (district of Lüneburg). It has existed since 1993.
