In a letter to all MPs, President of the House of Representatives Bergkamp once again pointed out the importance of complying with the corona rules. “Keep a distance of five feet and a mouth mask is mandatory in all public areas of the House of Representatives and that applies to everyone,” says the letter sent on behalf of the board of the House – the Presidium. The latter mainly seems to be a message to members of the Forum for Democracy group.
Last week was there trouble in the Chamber on compliance with the rules by members of that party. Chamber employees complained to the board because FvDers don’t want to wear face masks. Nor would they keep their distance.
In a debate about the corona measures last Wednesday, D66 MP Paternotte expressed his resentment ThePostOnline had reported about a wine tasting in the Kamergebouw, after which members of parliament from Forum were not feeling well. In that debate, Paternotte received a pat on the back from Forum leader Baudet. Wybren van Haga, who split off the day after with two other group members from Forum, apologized in the same debate for Baudet’s pat on the back.
New MP is hugged
Today the new Forum for Democracy MP Kerseboom was congratulated after her maiden speech (the first speech of a new MP) in the suspension, where she was embraced twice by fellow party members.
When the debate resumed, Bergkamp said it was “very regrettable” that the one-and-a-half meter rule was not respected. From now on, she will no longer allow congratulations without the parties’ promises to abide by the rules, she said.
The letter states that repeated violations will be followed by a written warning. “If it is necessary to protect others, services of ushers or other employees can be adjusted or scaled down,” said the chairman.
Look here at the anger in the Chamber last week in a debate where D66 Member of Parliament Paternotte also received a pat on the back from Thierry Baudet:
