Chamber: cabinet must do something with purchasing power • Rutte does not adjust plans

Prime Minister Rutte comes to the questions about nursing home care. No money is withdrawn, but despite the increasing number of elderly people, no extra money is added either. In practice, this means that nursing home care in the future will make do with about 400 million euros less, to the surprise of the left-wing parties.

Rutte says there is no other way to keep the rising costs in healthcare affordable. “It’s less more, but we do need to provide loving care.” The cabinet believes the discount of 400 million euros is justified, because care in nursing homes will be organized differently. The cabinet expects that money can be saved with less bureaucracy and paperwork.

Also because it is becoming increasingly difficult to find staff, it will be examined whether people with “new techniques” can stay at home longer. “We have to organize it differently.”
