“We have already had to deal with higher energy costs, higher raw material costs and now also higher excise duties,” says Robbert Wortelboer of Chamavan beer brewery in Zutphen. “People will notice this in the beer price, although we cannot fully pass on the increase in the price.” Wortelboer does not think that this will make people drink less. “Maybe they will make more conscious choices, but people still want to be able to drink a beer on the terrace every now and then,” he says.
