On Saturday morning, there are challenging driving conditions in several places in the country.

In inner and central parts of Vestland, an orange warning has been issued for very heavy rain.

Combined with milder weather, the risk of landslides, mudslides and floods is high – the risk of landslides is also at an orange level in Western Norway, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

The E39 at Vartdalsstranda in Ørsta is closed after a slush avalanche crossed the road on Saturday morning.

The slide must be one meter high and 40 meters wide.

Police operations manager Roar Fylling tells NTB that there is no indication that any cars or people have been taken by the landslide.

The police received a report about the landslide from two motorists. Police patrols are on the scene.

Veitrafikksentralen tells VG that it has been a busy night for the contractors.

Small landslides along the whole of Western Norway

Along the whole of Western Norway from Rogaland to Møre and Romsdal, there have been many smaller avalanches with ice and slush during the night.

The landslides apply to national roads and main thoroughfares, he adds.

– This is happening now that the weather has become a little milder. People must be aware that there are a number of lumps of ice in the road.

– Drive according to the conditions, urges the traffic operator.
