The news was neither known to the parents of the students, nor to one of the main teaching unions in Haute-Garonne. Finally, according to information from France 3 Occitanie, the threat is real but follows this individual’s dissatisfaction with his sister’s post-3rd year assignment. The deputy principal filed a complaint, which was ultimately dismissed. Informed, the rector of the Toulouse academy “made a point of speaking with the deputy principal as soon as he became aware of this fact to assure him of his support and that of the institution” told us the Rectorate of Toulouse.
When contacted, the college’s FCPE was not at all aware of the incident. “This is the first time I’ve heard this kind of threat.” recognizes Cécile Mathias, representative of the federation for this college. “It happens that the assignment poses a problem. One year, I heard that some people didn’t get the high school of their choice.“
Pierre Priouret, secretary general of SNES-FSU Toulouse, was also unaware of these threats. He condemns them, and describes them as “violent and shocking reactions” while reporting a real concern about assignment to high school.
“In June, more than 800 students were unassigned. This has since been restored, but some students did not yet have assignments at the start of the school year or assignments that they did not like. It is a subject of tension among the parents of students who are incomprehensible” he laments.
The sector in tension is located in vocational high schools, where “there are not enough places for family wishes” according to the unionist. “Even if it calculates as accurately as possible, the Rectorate does not have the means or does not give itself the means” to respond to student requests without assignment. “We are asking for class openings” recalls Pierre Priouret.
