Challenges & inequalities of digital inclusion in health | 21

In 2020, in France, there are, 19 millions teleconsultation acts, 15 millions downloads of the TousAntiCovid application, 60 millions monthly visits to the doctolib.fr site… No more doubts, the health crisis marked a turning point in the deployment of e-health!

This digital shift in health is the bearer of progress exceptional events such as the development of telemedicine, the increase in patients’ autonomy in managing their health, the acceleration of diagnostic processes and the emergence of more predictive medicine …

It is in line with the objectives set by the ministerial plan “My health 2022, a collective commitment” adopted on July 26, 2019, with the desire to bring together public and private initiatives.

Although this digital transformation of the sector presents many opportunities, she lifts interrogations in terms ofdigital inclusion in health.

How to prevent digital access inequalities are superimposed on inequalities in access to healthcare ? How to develop digital health services that benefit everyone ? How to guarantee the security and the confidence in these digital tools ?

In June 2021, La Roche Foundation, WeTechCare and the French Red Cross published theObservatory of digital access in health, a first unpublished report on the challenges of digital inclusion in health.

The observatory has identified 3 major challenges to overcome:

  1. The challenge of trust
  2. The challenge of supporting and raising citizens’ awareness
  3. The challenge of working with healthcare professionals

Following this diagnosis, 21, the social innovation accelerator of the French Red Cross and The Roche Foundation, launched a call for candidates within the framework of the programme Impact Data in order to support concrete innovation solutions at the service of digital inclusion in health, solutions:

  2. Reconnect
  3. Granny Geek
