Challenges and Updates in the Lebanese Real Estate Departments Amidst Employee Arrests and Reopening

“Lebanese Debate”

The interests of thousands of citizens are still suspended due to the closure of some real estate departments, which are now returning to work according to a program that does not meet the needs of citizens from these departments. What is new about work in these departments, especially those who stopped working in them after the arrests of employees on charges of corruption?

An official source in the Ministry of Finance confirms that the real estate departments, with the exception of the Mount Lebanon Real Estate Department, operate normally according to empty conditions, as employees work there between 3 to 4 days a week, but receiving citizens’ requests is limited to one day a week because the employees complete the accumulated transactions. the previous strike.

The sources confirm that the pace of work will increase until the completion of the accumulated files, after which applications will begin to be received over the remaining days.

As for the districts of Baabda, Chouf and Alia, the work is limited to the completion of the backlog pending its completion, after which the door is opened to receive new applications.

But is it possible to work in these departments in the absence of real estate registrars? The sources reveal that Finance Minister Youssef Khalil has assigned new trustees to carry out their tasks, and that some of the employees who were released have returned to work.

The sources expected that the real estate departments would return to support the treasury with billions soon after it regained its administrative health, knowing that these departments are the largest tributary to the treasury, and today they can earn billions by raising fees.
