Challengers Movie Tops Weekend Box Office with $15 Million Profit

The movie “Challengers,” about tennis fans involved in a romantic drama, was the top-grossing movie this weekend in the United States, with a total profit of $15 million, according to industry estimates. was published on Sunday.

Zendaya and her partners Mike Fist and Josh O’Connor have been on a press tour to promote Italian director Luca Guadagnino’s film, which opened in 3,477 theaters in the United States and Canada.

Reviews have been mostly positive for the film: it has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and a B+ grade on CinemaScore. The audience was 58% women and 41% people between 18 and 24 years old.

In second place was the religious film “Unsung Hero”, bringing in $7.8 million in 2,832 theaters. It is based on the true story of the Smallbone family and the children’s rise in the world of country music. Joel Smallbone directed the film, co-wrote it, and plays David’s father.

The Lionsgate film, which cost just $6 million to produce, earned a rare A+ grade on CinemaScore and has a 100% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics, however, are more skeptical and gave it 58%. Most of the audience was female (69%) and over 25 years old (91%).

“Civil War” (A24) added $7 million in its third weekend, bringing its domestic total to $56.2 million.
