Challenge the King of Thailand, Demonstrator Puts a “People-Owned Country” Plaque Page all

BANGKOK, KOMPAS.com – Protesters on Thailand challenging monarchy King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn by affixing a placard in the field next to the Royal Palace in Bangkok.

The plaque affixed on Sunday (20/9/2020) states that Thailand belongs to the people, not to the King of Thailand.

The plaque was cemented in an area known as Sanam Luang, aka Royal Square, shortly after sunrise.

“In this place the people have expressed their wish: that this country belongs to the people and not to the king because they have deceived us,” reads the plaque.

The Royal Palace could not be reached for comment.

Thai Government Spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the police would not use force against protesters and it was up to them to determine and prosecute any illegal speeches.

Police were not immediately available for comment.

During the protests that took place on Sunday, tens of thousands of protesters cheered for reform of the monarchy and the removal of Prayuth as Prime Minister of Thailand.

“This nation does not belong to one person other than all of us. Down with feudalism, long live the people, ”shouted one of the leaders of the demonstration, Parit Chiwarak, during a placard installation ceremony.

Police refrained from demonstrations and made no attempt to interfere.

The protesters said they would walk from the ceremony venue at 08.00 local time.
