Challenge Brio RS! Agya GR Sport fills LCGC and Yaris vacancies

Jakarta

Agya GR Sport will fill the new segment. The 5-passenger hatchback car is not included in the Low Cost Green Car scheme.

Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor, Anton Jimmi Suwandy, said that his party was expanding the market which so far was only occupied by the Honda Brio RS alone. Interestingly, Toyota will place the Agya GR Sport to fill the void in the LCGC and Yaris classes.

“Essentially, we see that there is a market and there are requests from consumers. So far, consumers have bought Agya only at LCGC. Maybe above that, there is a Yaris, but the gap is quite large. We feel that even though the MPV is large, the SUV is large, but the hatchback cannot be forgotten either,” said Anton when met at the 2023 Indonesia International Motorcycle Show (IIMS), Thursday (16/2/2023).

Toyota said that the Agya GR Sport will receive changes to support performance. Inheriting the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) motorsports DNA, further changes were made to the suspension system and EPS (Electronic Power Steering). Nakano explained that the GR-Sport variant also has an exclusive shock absorber and coil spring setting designed to provide maximum damping power compared to the standard model.

In addition, the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) also gets a tighter gear ratio to make it more agile when maneuvering. Meanwhile, specially selected sport tires are able to increase the tire’s traction on straight roads and maintain grip on winding roads.

Later the All New Toyota will have two variants, namely Agya GR-Sport and Agya for the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) class. Interestingly the GR-Sport, there are several differences starting from the exterior with dual tone colors, 15-inch alloy wheels, to the shock absorber tuning.

To give a sportier appearance, the Agya GR-Sport is equipped with an aero kit mounted on the exterior with the aim of even helping to improve the aerodynamics of the sporty hatchback which is already better than the previous generation.

Regarding the engine, the All New Toyota Agya will use a new engine coded WA-VE with a 1,200 cc 3-cylinder Dual VVT-i cubication that can produce 88 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 11.52 kgm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Power is channeled through a CVT transmission.

“What is certain is that I have tried the product, and I am very confident, hopefully it will be accepted by the market,” said Anton.
