Chairul Tanjung’s company will buy 2 bank shares

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Company owned Chairul Tanjung, PT Mega Corpora, has just announced its acquisition plan PT Bank Harda Internasional Tbk. Mega Corpora is also known to be in the process of buying shares PT Bank Bengkulu and it is predicted that there will be final news this week.

In an announcement to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) regarding the acquisition process of Bank Harda or BBHI, PT Hakimputra Perkasa will sell 3.08 billion of its shares to PT Mega Corpora. The number of shares to be released is equivalent to 73.71 percent of all issued and fully paid shares in Bank Harda.

The sale and purchase agreement was signed on October 16, 2020. After the signing of the share sale and purchase agreement, all shares that were agreed upon cannot be traded until the agreed date. The takeover of the company will be carried out through transactions in the negotiation market on the IDX after receiving permission from the OJK.

The takeover plan has made the company’s control shift to Mega Corpora. This plan is still in the process of implementing EGMS approval as one of the requirements for obtaining OJK’s license.

Deputy Commissioner for Banking Supervision III OJK Slamet Edy Purnomo said the commitment from Chairul Tanjung through Mega Corpora was clear as stated in the disclosure of information. In fact, the future plans for the issuer coded as BBHI will be encouraged to become a digital bank capable of working on the retail segment.
