Then the last trotting race in Sweden will be run – unless the bleeding is stopped – that’s according to the chairman of the board of Swedish Trotting Sports.
– Current development is not enough, we have to change our sport to growth, says Anders Källström.
He has been active in politics, municipal councilor in Örnsköldsvik, CEO of a media company, chairman of Modo Hockey, CEO of LRF and chairman of the Swedish Hockey League, among other assignments.
For 18 months now, Anders Källström, 64, has been chairman of the board of Swedish Trotting Sport.
– Of course it’s nice to be involved and be able to make decisions, he said when he was newly appointed.

“Connected to three parts”
In a big interview with the trade magazine The trotting round tells Källström, among other things, about his visions for the future – but also comes with a death sentence.

– My message has been the same all the way: current development is not enough, we must change our sport to one of growth. We have lost horses and licensed for many years and with current developments the last trotting race in Sweden will be run in 2053. Later this year, the association is expected to release a strategic plan for how the work to save trotting in Sweden should look like.
– Then the question is how to reverse the trends? There is no quick fix but the strategic plan to be adopted aims to try to reverse the trends, he says the newspaper.
