Details: The head of Gagauzia said that she discussed with Putin “complex regional and geopolitical issues, the epicenter of which is” the region.
“I informed Vladimir Vladimirovich about the lawless actions of the authorities in Moldova, which is taking revenge on us for our civic position and loyalty to national interests,” Hutsul wrote, alleging a violation of “legal rights” and “destabilization in Gagauzia and throughout the country.”
She added that Putin “promised to support Gagauzia and the Gagauz people in defending our legitimate rights, powers and positions in the international arena.”
Evgenia Gutsul officially took the oath of office as Bashkan of Gagauzia in July 2023. Ceremony took place with numerous violations and without the participation of Hutsul’s predecessor in office, Irina Vlah, and the leadership of Moldova.
Hutsul has been in Russia since at least March 1, when she met with the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation (upper house of parliament) Valentina Matvienko and asked for “help” from Moscow.
