Chairman of European Solidarity Faction in Kyiv City Council Opposes Focusing City Budget on War

The chairman of the European Solidarity faction in the Kiev City Council, Vladimir Prokopiv, during the vote for the capital’s budget, said that Kyiv does not need to focus the city budget on war, the state should do this, and “cities should live their own lives.”

Details: On Thursday, deputies of the Kyiv City Council adopted capital budget for 2024. Revenues were planned in the amount of more than 72.6 billion hryvnias, expenses – more than 85.3 billion. Of this amount, only 1 billion hryvnias are provided for assistance to the Armed Forces.

Semenova said after the vote that her faction did not support this decision because it was not a war budget.

The deputy was answered by Prokopiv, who also holds the position of deputy chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration for the exercise of self-government powers.

Direct speech: “Some colleagues are demanding a war budget in the city. The city is adopting the Kiev city budget. There should be a war budget in the state… Do you want a war budget here (in Kiev? Make the state budget a war budget, and cities should live their own lives.”
