The chairman of the Democrat Election Winning Body (Bappilu), Andi Arief, has again asked for presidential candidates for the Change Coalition for Unity (KPP), Anies Baswedan, to declare his cawapres and ask NasDem to be wise. Deputy Head of NasDem Ahmad Ali (Mad Ali) asked Andi Arief to be patient.
“Tell the Coalition for Change, especially Democrats, Mr Andi Arief, don’t accuse each other anyway, be patient and give that trust to Mas Anies. The more often you press Mas Anies, the public will suspect there is a purpose, there is a shrimp behind the rock,” said Ali when contacted, Monday (21/8/2023).
Ali asked Andi Arief not to accuse NasDem of being wise. From the start, he continued, the NasDem Party has carried Anies unconditional presidential candidate.
“We declared Mas Anies unconditionally, we support Mas Anies unconditionally. We don’t make Mas Anies a cadre of the NasDem party, yes, because we want Mas Anies to be president for Indonesia,” he said.
He hoped that within KPP there would be no parties accusing each other. He was surprised why the Democrats seemed in a hurry to urge Anies to announce his running mate.
“So we don’t need to point fingers at each other, we don’t need to point fingers at each other so that later it has bad implications for the coalition. Talking a little bit, accusing other people a little bit. The simple question is actually, what’s wrong with the Democrats, why are they in such a hurry?” he asked.
He said that one cannot be held hostage in a coalition party. Let Anies determine his running mate without having to consider whether he can run or not in the next general election.
“It is not permissible for the coalition parties to hold each other hostage, meaning that if the Declaration Charter declares that Anies is looking for a representative, he should no longer consider someone because of his position in one party. No longer have to consider whether Anies can run or not because there are parties that have the potential to leave the coalition when he is not promoted. ,” said Ali.
“Not yet announcing the vice president today is also a strategy. The position of the Change Coalition in quotation marks is not with the government, of course this is very difficult for the coalition itself. It will open up opportunities for people to find fault,” he continued.
Andi previously considered the cawapres declaration to be a tactic to increase electability Anies.
“I hope Anies Baswedan immediately declares his running mate as a tactic to increase his electability,” Andi said in a tweet shared with journalists, Monday (21/8/2023).
Andi poked NasDem to consider his input on Anies’ vice presidential candidate. He asked the Team of Eight within KPP’s internal circle to carry out an evaluation related to this.
“Some friends from NasDem hope to be wiser about this. Team 8 will immediately evaluate its achievements,” he said.
