Ottawa Senators back Thomas Chabot miss the rest of the season. This was announced by the team’s coach DJ: Smith on Thursday. The hill broke his hand in connection with a tackle by the Columbus Blue Jackets Sean Kuraly on Wednesday.

Ottawa will play its last game of the season on April 29 against the Phildelphia Flyers, but regardless of whether Chabot’s injury is healed until the end of the season, the 25-year-old will not play anything with this season.
– A broken hand usually needs 4-6 weeks to heal and there is no point in stressing to get him back. Even if he manages to recover, it would be unnecessary to play him one or two matches before the season is over.
Chabot has scored 34 points (6 + 28) in 55 games this season and has the most ice time per game in the entire NHL (26:23).
– Losing “Chabby” is a hard blow for us, says coach Smith. You could see that it was emotional on the bench and when we told what happened during the break. He means a lot to our team.
– He gives a completely different dimension to our team, says Senator’s team captain Brady Tkachuk. He takes great responsibility in the matches and leads us out there. Everyone knows how much ice time he has every game. He really makes a difference and we will miss him.
Also Ottawa’s forward Tim Stützle is a question mark. The 20-year-old has a lower body injury and did not train on Thursday. Stützle’s injury is evaluated day by day.
