singer and activist Chabela Ramirez denounced through social networks having suffered a racist attack last monday at summer theater, at the end of the presentation with the comparsa Valores de Ansina. As a result of the blow received on her hip, the artist stated that she had to cancel a presentation that she had this March 1 at the Solís Theater.
“It is not an isolated event, nor is it that the attacks have increased, but rather that there was a change of expression,” Ramírez told El País.
“I don’t feel afraid or victim; I sent the letter so that they can see that these things are not overlooked, ”added the artist in reference to a text that she published telling what happened. “The worst thing is that it will continue to happen. I am going to file a complaint when I can see the images from the Daecpu cameras,” she said.
Chabela thanked in her statement “the people, organizations and institutions that showed solidarity in the face of this situation, from SOS Racismo, Sucau, the PIT-CNT Gender Commission, Afrogama, Ansina Values and the Neighborhood Council of Municipality B.”
In addition, he announced that he will take legal measures: “Despite knowing how slow it is to operate when the issue is racism, simply so that it is registered, regardless of the adverse results that our complaints have. We try once again exercise our rights and believe in democracy”.
