It’s time for the government to listen!
The words of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on April 5 have only strengthened the determination of employees, young people, unemployed and retirees who have been mobilized for more than 3 months.
Nearly 2 million demonstrators in France, including 26,000 in the many Hérault demonstrations, spoke out again on April 6 on strike and in the streets, to say no to retirement at 64. A majority of the population continues to support the mobilization and condemns the government’s stubbornness.
To remain deaf, makes this government irresponsible, what is more when in unity, the trade unions, together, reaffirm their demand for withdrawal from this reform.
The government is at an impasse and is increasing its provocations and attacks on the right to strike and demonstrate. The CGT welcomes the decision of the administrative court of Rouen considering that the order of requisition against the strikers of the Total refinery in Seine-Maritime carried a serious and manifestly illegal attack on the right to strike, and ordered in summary the suspension requisitions. The Prefecture of Paris sees its decrees prohibiting the right to demonstrate challenged by the administrative court.
The CGT will continue to make every effort to put an end to trade union repression and the attack on fundamental freedoms. We condemn Minister Darmanin’s remarks and threats against the League for Human Rights.
The CGT reaffirmed this during the meeting with the Prime Minister, “The situation is serious…” and “The central question of wages not dealt with,… a reform which has no economic justification”. A reform that twisted the rules and muzzled parliament!
The CGT will continue in the weeks to come, to demand the withdrawal for the thousands of employees, young people, unemployed who believe in victory! The CGT which also appeals to the responsibility of the Constitutional Council, which must be attentive to the just anger of the workers.
The CGT calls on the world of work to mobilize, everywhere in services and companies, by calls to strike decided in GA.
The CGT also calls on all workers to go on strike and demonstrate on Thursday April 13, 2023 at the call of the inter-union and to continue with initiatives on April 14, the day of the Constitutional Council, until on withdrawal.
