The role of Adam Miauczyński, a frustrated Polish philologist-divorcee in “The Day of the Freak”, has become very closely related to Marek Kondrat. But it was close to someone else playing it. The backstage of the cast carousel was introduced by Juliusz Machulski, who was the producer of “The Day of the Freak”. He raised this issue in an interview he gave to Jacek Wakar for the book “The First Life of Marek Kondrat”. This new publication is a collection of interviews with actresses and directors who know Kondrat well.
“When Marek was cast on» The Day of the Freak «, Koterski’s first shot was Pazura! Marek Kondrat. Koterski did not want to agree, luckily Pazura refused “- recalls Machulski.
What made Pazura not agree to Koterski’s offer? “There was a scene where the protagonist poops under the window like a dog. Czarek had a school-age daughter and decided that she couldn’t see his dad in such a situation. Fortunately, he thought so. Then my suggestion number one returned immediately – Marek Kondrat ! ” – says the founder of the “Zebra” Film Studio.
It is worth knowing that before his performance in “The Day of the Freak”, Marek Kondrat played Miauczyński in Marek Koterski’s debut, in “Dom madiatów” (1984). As for the cooperation of Kondrat and Machulski, they also collaborated on “Psy”, “Kiler” and the film “Money is not everything”.
