ČEZ terminates contracts of electric car owners. The new year will bring about a fundamental change for recharging

Pay per charge

“Dear customer, We wish to inform you that as part of the improvement and expansion of our services, it is necessary to proceed with the revision of your contract for the provision of the Elektromobilita service, effective from 01.01.2023. For this reason, it is necessary to terminate the existing contract and confirm a new contract by referring to the updated terms and conditions,” states, among other things, the official email that ČEZ customers have currently received.

We telephoned customer support to ask what exactly the fuss was about. The main change currently known is the billing method. Until now, customers who top-up at ČEZ stations received a summary invoice once a month, starting from the new year, the top-up amount will be deducted from the registered payment card immediately after top-up. The notice period for the contract is one month, so it started on December 1st. Interestingly, according to the official mail message, customers will be able to confirm the new contract only from January 1, 2023, but at the same time, without expressing consent, it will not be possible to top up from January 1, 2023.

The current change only applies to customers who are registered directly with ČEZ. The charging stations of this company can also be used with various universal charging cards from car manufacturers. For them, the new year will bring no changes, as confirmed by BMW spokesman David Haidinger.
