According to information from the financial statements for the previous year, the Group bought a 100% stake in FDLnet.CZ, ISP West and TaNET West. The company FDLnet.CZ provides services in the Frýdlant region, the other two companies (they had the same owners) operate in the Pilsen and Karlovy Vary regions.
CEZ already manages 8,500-kilometer optical networks and connects all regions in the Czech Republic with access points in almost 70 cities. CEZ Group provides the Internet through Telco Infrastructure under the CEZNet brand. He currently works in Karlovy Vary.
“Thanks to the use of fiber optic technology, we provide a super-fast, secure and reliable connection. We want to gradually expand the offer to other locations where there will be suitable conditions for the installation of last mile optical networks and connections to backbone networks. This is also related to our acquisitions of the mentioned smaller local service providers, “said ČEZ spokesman Roman Gazdík. The company does not want to publish the price paid due to competition.

After all, the impact on the energy concern will not be great. “They will gain new customers to whom they can offer other products. From CEZ’s point of view, this is negligible, “comments Bohumil Trampota, an analyst at Komerční banka, on the acquisition.
At the same time, CEZ Group does not offer comprehensive coverage, but focuses on individual locations. “These are locations where the Internet is not fast enough at the moment and where we can subsequently provide high-speed internet over the optical network to households at advantageous prices,” adds Gazdík.
In addition to high-speed Internet, CEZ Group also has its own mobile operator with almost 130,000 clients. And it can significantly increase its presence in telecommunications. It is a cooperation with the domestic mobile troika Vodafone. Gazdík did not comment on the cooperation between the two companies.

It should also be at stake that ČEZ would take over the mobile operator. “Negotiations are at an early stage. Under certain conditions, they would buy it, “says a source from energy circles, who did not want to be named.
Cooperation is not excluded in the field of optical networks, where Vodafone has a strong position after the acquisition of UPC. However, other remaining market players are also investing heavily in optical networks: T-Mobile and Cetin.
