CEV stance causes you to syncope to the right

A syncope to the Creole right caused the position assumed by the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV), regarding the call to settle the differences in the electoral ballot boxes and show its disagreement with the call to abstention from opposition sectors, since it considers that it is a a strategy that will deepen the political divide in the country.

On the side of the extremist factors, it did not fall well that the CEV will reject outlets outside the Constitution and that they see it necessary to hold elections.

The president of Datanálisis, Luis Vicente León, defended the position of the CEV by pointing out that the “statement from the Episcopal Conference may or may not be liked, but you cannot refute its two great truths: 1) that democracy is hijacked and 2) that it is not she frees herself from kidnapping with a simplistic call to abstain, with no additional proposal to rescue her ”.

From Copei, a social Christian party, they demanded an explanation from the country. “The statement published by the CEV is in contradiction with the apostolic exhortation of July 10, where our pastors demand free and democratic elections. I believe that the CEV owes an explanation to the country, “said Roberto Enrique on twitter.

The ultra-radical Vente Venezuela party was hurt by the change in the Church. Her representative María Corina Machado said that “Giving up is not an option, neither a citizen nor Christian. I cannot understand the total change in the position of the CEV ”. And she added: “What happened to your call to confront tyranny creatively and with evangelical novelty? How can they be confused in this way about the real feeling of Venezuelans? At what point did they lose confidence in the strength of society, of the faithful, of the clergy? What happened?”.

In his counterpart Veppex, the reaction was similar and they hope that the CEV will take the side of those most in need. Its president José Antonio Colina said that they are “inviting us to participate in a sacrilege.”

From the moderate opposition, few voices emerged in support of the CEV. The president of the National Assembly, Luis Parra, expressed his support. “From the National Assembly we support the communiqué of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference. Our people will not give up and will continue to fight for the solution to the crisis. Voting is a right, ”he wrote on twitter.

The opposition leader Enrique Ochoa Antich showed his support on twitter. “Thanks to the bishops!”
