Ceuta presents the lowest vaccination data with the fourth dose of all…

Ceuta presents the worst vaccination data in relation to the fourth dose, or booster dose, of the entire country. As you know, last August the Ministry of Health established the administration of this fourth dose during the autumn-winter to the adult population aged 60 and over, to people in RSA and to those with risk conditions, and regardless of the number of doses received and the number of previous infections, at least 5 months after the last dose of mRNA, to health and social care personnel working in primary care, hospital centers or residences for the elderly or assistance for the disabled, due to their greater exposure and possibility of transmission to highly vulnerable people, as well as the need to guarantee the functioning of the health and social health system, especially in times of greatest care overload. In this group, including the strategy, the booster dose will be given at least 5 months after the last dose of the mRNA vaccine or since the last infection.

The campaign for this fourth dose began with people over eighty, expanding in recent months to the age group between 70 and 79 and between 60 and 69 years. In the first of the age groups, a total of 842 Ceutas were vaccinated, this implies that 29.68 percent of the population of that age has already received the fourth dose, compared to 72.57 percent of the national average. In the age group of 70 to 79, the number of people who received the booster dose is 950, which means that 21.57 percent received the vaccine, while 61.7 percent did so nationwide . Finally, in the age group from 60 to 69 there were 1,123, that is 13.48, very far from the national average which indicates that 61.7 percent of that age group has been vaccinated. In all three cases, Ceuta’s figures are the lowest in the country.

The explanations for these low numbers of vaccinations, the Ministry of Health underlines, could be linked to the low incidence of the disease in our city in recent months. A low incidence that also puts on the table the latest daily report released by the Ministry of Health and which puts the cumulative incidence in 7 days at 13.18 for people over 60, against the national average of 75.5. and the cumulative incidence in 14 days out of 105,43, compared to the national average of 160,84 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Some good data that does not generate high levels of concern and, therefore, does not affect the population’s perception of the need to be vaccinated with a new booster dose.

Despite this, the Ministry has once again insisted on the importance of vaccination and booster doses in the prevention of the disease, as well as on the lesser severity of the symptoms in the event of contraction, for which it has appealed to those in Ceuta for the over 60s who do not they have still been vaccinated to go to the Military Hospital, the current headquarters of the Covid Point, where they will be able to receive the vaccine.

In the last month, between 1 and 23 December, a total of 143 people passed through this vaccination point
