CETIN, 365internet, O2, T-Mobile, Telly and Vodafone will give families a thousand connections for free

Thousands of Czech households will receive a free internet connection. They will be provided by CETIN, 365internet, O2, T-Mobile, Telly and Vodafone in cooperation with a voluntary initiative Česko.digital.

The free connection will be intended for families who cannot afford the connection and need it to teach their children online. “There are hundreds, maybe thousands of such children, and if we forgot them, we would further deepen the inequalities that already exist between children and schools in access to online education,” comments the step. in the press release, the sales director of CETIN Katarína Vániková.

Families have free connections from the operators involved for half a year. It will be possible to put the connections into operation where the CETIN network is available, and they will always offer the highest available speed (maximum 100 Mbit / s).

Specific households will be selected by the non-profit organization Česko.Digital, which is part of the project UčímeOnline.cz helps schools to launch distance education. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the organization has also gained over a thousand computers for needy families.

In recent days, operators have also announced other events to help schoolchildren. For example, T-Mobile offered schools 10,000 SIM cards with a data tariff (20 GB of data, after exhaustion of the speed reduction to 3 Mbit / s) free of charge for three months. The schools dismantled them in two days, so the operator increased the offer by another 10,000 SIM cards.

O2, in cooperation with the non-profit organizations Women for Women, People in Need and Česko.digital, offered free internet connection for 1500 socially and economically disadvantaged children.

Vodafone offered Free 500 unlimited wired internet and a modem with Wi-Fi coverage for 500 families.

Some regional operators also offer help: for example, South Bohemia Starnet offers families in need a free connection for six months.
