This Cessna 206 aircraft in Suriname was heavily damaged this morning after the aircraft made an emergency landing behind Paranam, in one of the old mines of Suralco. This would have happened around 9:00 am this morning.
It concerns an aircraft of Gum Air NV, which departed from Zorg en Hoop with the destination of Stoelmanseiland. After takeoff, the Cessna experienced engine problems. As a result, the pilot had to make an emergency landing.
There were five occupants on board who were transported by helicopter to the Academic Hospital in Paramaribo where they were admitted for observation. Several police units went to the scene for further investigation.
According to Gum Air, all relevant official authorities have been informed of the incident. The investigation is currently underway.
