On Friday, the representatives of the largest trade union associations and companies in the Czech Republic exchanged ideas and strategies for the further development of the local economy over the next 30 years. At the Česko na křižovatce (Czech Republic at the Crossroads) conference, hosted by the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Prime Minister Petr Fiala (Citizen Democrats) gave the opening speech. According to him, the greatest potential of the local economy lies in strategic investments in the areas of transport, energy infrastructure, nuclear power, lithium mining, chip production and IT. According to the prime minister, trillions of crowns would be spent on such projects in the coming years.
However, according to the results of a survey of 1,267 companies in the Czech Republic, presented at the conference by the Chamber of Commerce, 60 percent of those questioned are skeptical about the expected economic development. As Chamber President Zdeněk Zajíček explained, business associations and similar initiatives would therefore appeal to the Czech government to remove hurdles for strategic investments.
