Cesis “Lekrings” floorball players on Friday secured the first place in the regular championship of “Elvi Floorball League” men’s tournament. Cēsnieki guests beat Kocēni “Rubenes” unit with the result 7: 5 (1: 4, 4: 0, 2: 1).
“Lekrings” took the lead in the first 12 minutes with 0: 4, but then the game was turned in the opposite direction and in the middle of the third period the result was already 6: 4 in favor of the guests. The home team did not recover from the opponents’ play, winning the celebration of Cēsis floorball players. Roberts Zande stood out with two goals, but Matiss Celms had two accurate shots.
In another game, “Lielvārde” / ”FatPipe” took the lead over “Ķekava” with the result 7: 3 (1: 1, 2: 1, 4: 1). The victory allowed the big people to strengthen themselves in the top eight and look more with hope in the direction of the elimination tournament. Sandis Mihailovskis, who scored three balls in the opponents’ goal and assisted in two more goals, played a successful game for the guests. Dinārs Vaitaitis was twice infallible.
The elimination tournament will start in the women’s championship on Saturday. It is expected that after the regular championship “play-off” the first round or quarterfinals will be up to two victories of one team, but later in the final four-tournament the champions will be determined, which is planned to be done by Midsummer.
It is also planned that the final this season will not take place in “Arena Riga”, but in one of the Olympic centers in the regions. There are 12 teams playing in the men’s tournament this season, and eight teams in the women’s tournament.
