Cesc Fabregas retired from football. The midfielder from Spain feels that his career time on the gridiron is enough.
This decision was announced by him on Saturday (1/7) evening WIB. He was last defended As in Italian Serie B. Even though he had one year left on his contract, he chose to quit. He will start a new career as coach of Como’s B team and Primavera.
“The time has come for me to hang up my boots. Starting from the first day at Barca, Arsenal, Barca again, Chelsea, Monaco and Como, I will appreciate them all,” said Fabregas in a statement on social media.
“From lifting the World Cup, the European Championships, to winning everything in England and Spain and almost every trophy in Europe, it has been a journey I will never forget.
“Everyone who has helped me, my team-mates, coaches, directors, president, club owners, supporters and agents. To all my family, from my parents, sisters, wife and children, I appreciate your advice, guidance and assistance. you guys. To the opponents who tried to stop me, thank you for making me stronger.”
“It’s been so worth it with all the great memories and friends I’ve had so far.”
“So after 20 extraordinary years of sacrifice, dedication and happiness, it’s time to thank and say goodbye to this beautiful game. I really enjoyed every minute of it,” said Fabregas.
Despite his Barcelona academy education, Fabregas’ name stuck out for the first time with Arsenal. While playing for the Gunners, he also had the opportunity to defend the Spanish national team, being part of the golden generation that won the 2008 and 2012 European Cups and the 2010 World Cup.
At club level, he won the Premier League title with Chelsea and the Spanish League with Barcelona. He has also won the Copa del Rey, the FA Cup and the English League Cup. Only the Champions League has escaped his grasp. He entered the final with Arsenal in 2006, but lost to Barca.
