Cesc Fàbregas was appointed as interim coach of Italian Serie B club Como on Monday. For the former midfielder it is his first job as head coach.
Until Monday, the 36-year-old Fàbregas was a youth coach at the current number six of Serie B, the second level of Italy. The Spaniard is the successor to the Italian Moreno Longo, who arrived at Como in mid-2022.
The board says it will look for a permanent replacement for Longo. On Wednesday, Fàbregas will lead his first training with the main force. He will make his debut on the bench on November 25 against bottom line Feralpisalo.
Fàbregas ended his playing career at Como last summer. He then started working as a youth coach at the Italian club. He also became a shareholder of ‘I Lariani’.
The 110-time international had a rich playing career. The former midfielder played for Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Chelsea and AS Monaco. With Spain he won both the World Cup (2010) and the European Championship (2008 and 2012).
